When Can You Change Your Order?
One of the challenges with offering benefits under a cafeteria plan is that you usually cannot change your mind. Once the election is made during open enrollment, it typically must remain until the end of the plan year. There are more than a dozen exceptions to this rule, however, and understanding when they apply is not easy. In this webinar, we will sort through each exception, provide examples, and also discuss some unwritten exceptions that may be available as well. We will also address:
- The consistency rule
- HIPAA special enrollment rights
- How the rules differ for Health FSAs and Health Savings Accounts
- Special considerations for individual premium election under a premium reimbursement option
